I am a sewaholic

Blogger admiration.

I have a great deal of respect for people who can blog on a regular basis. I have decided it really is not a strong point of mine. However I do love to follow other bloggers as I find them inspirational with their creativity.

So this is a big thanks to you ūüôā

Maybe my blogging will improve one day in the future. just too many other things out there that occupy my time (ie a job!!!).

One week one pattern.
And mine shall be the versatile New Look 0911
…looks boring but…..
I have at least 8 versions of this pattern so it should be easy and they range from casual to formal. All it takes is a little imagination.

Lillian complete

Lillian complete

Lillian looks just fine on – but too hard to photograph myself wearing – and anyhow – I would have to get changed and I am way too lazy. I think I just may make this one again in something a bit lighter with more flow in the fabric.

Lillian in progress

Lillian in progress

This part is pretty straight forward. The collar (a one piece ) I found rather unusual. Along with the front placket placings. I wouldn’t like to be a novice attempting this.

Lillian Blouse. BurdaStyle Vintage Modern.

ImageI thought this would be a relatively straightforward project Рand it was apart from the collar.  The drafting measurements for the collar need to be taken from the constructed front and back and not directly from the pattern pieces.

I think the end result does look like the photo original, but I am unable to tuck in my version as the front and back pieces are way too short.  Nevermind it is wearable as is, but if I am to make another it will need to be lengthened somewhat.

Even though the recommended fabric was for a voile, it seemed to work fine with a crisper cotton poplin and broderie anglaise lace insert.

This is my first construction from this book РI think I will give other patterns a go after this attempt.  This is really a muslin Рbut a wearable one!  I do find Burda sizing a bit unreliable sometimes!!

I have had a semi-succesful sewing time as of late. – a blouse that is way to “bomfey” for me, and a dress that makes me feel a bit matronly. ¬†I did have success with one dress – finally making up something I purchased from Mood in NYC. ¬†I have been a bit reluctant with this stash – maybe it is because I live so far away (10,000 miles or so), and I want to make sure that I use my fabric wisely. ¬†I will post Photos of these other garments later.

I have tidied up my sewing area, and as a reward to myself have downloaded a nice little shirt drew pattern, which I may or may not cut out this afternoon.  Otherwise it will wait until next week.

Still a bit on the baggy side – a few adjustments to get this fit. quite pleased with the result.

My next project – Burda style 117B Pants. I am hoping to make these up this weekend. Just downloaded the pattern and pre-washed my fabric – “Black Holy Cow” – a little viscose number from the local fabric shop. Going away for weekends is counter productive as far as sewing is concerned. You just can’t sew without a machine.

My New Cook Books! Just purchased yesterday – can’t wait to try :)

Just purchased these yesterday – such a shame I am working as I won’t get a chance to even read them properly.
Its all part of my new plan ” To be Healthy ”
Ha, not sure how long it will last – but at least I will have these to serve as ambitious memories. And I will use these books. Twenty something son #2 not too keen on the PURPLE potatoes I produced at last nights meal. “But they are GOOD for you” I said. “And they taste just like potatoes!”
NOT IMPRESSED. They should look like potatoes if they are going to taste like them.
Huh!! What is wrong with the young these days.

Bow shirt Version 2

Bow shirt Version 2

Version 2 of yesterdays shirt fully completed.Having completed my last project prior to attaching the bow I had a quick trip to the local fabric store – new fabrics in stock. oops big mistake – so I bought this gorgeous rayon viscose with one thing in mind – “another bow shirt”.
With a fabric name to peach cow pie how could one resist.
yay – another shirt completed.

Hmmm. what to make next?

I really must use some fabric from my stash.
